A true work of art, the lush and flowery La Mortella Gardens, created by the fertility of the volcanic soil, the composite climate and the passion of Lady Susana Walton, wife of Sir William, greatest British composer of the 20th century, who in 1956 chose Forio as its residence as a retreat and source of inspiration. Initially created following a project of the great landscape architect Russel Page, the initial garden has been enlarged and modeled by Lady Susana with countless collections of rare and unique plants, which are now part of an intriguing sensory journey, followed by the Mediterranean gardens on the sunny hills from which the panorama of the sea and coast of Forio can be admired. A natural oasis not to be missed, summer theater of an intense season of concerts by young musicians followed and promoted by the Walton Foundation, preserving and keeping alive the musical legacy of Sir William and the botanical legacy of Lady Susana.
